Bio
Business Experience: Jim began his business career in 1974 as a partner in ACA International, a technical staffing firm servicing the aerospace, nuclear, and petrochemical industries, and managed ACA’s business model transition from full corporate ownership to a network of manager-owned licensed offices. Under his direction, revenues grew from $1 million to over $5 million in 1978, when ACA was sold.

In 1981, Jim co-founded Damian Services Corporation, as the first company to respond to the business needs of independently owned staffing firms. As a former owner of a staffing firm, he recognized that independents often lack the financial, back office infrastructure, and technology resources needed to effectively compete with larger publicly traded firms. Damian was the first company of its kind to integrate and provide these resources to independents. Since it’s inception, the firm has contributed to the success of hundreds of staffing firms throughout the US and in Canada by financing and servicing approximately $175 million per year in labor billings, allowing its clients to meet payroll and payroll tax obligations each week for their 5,500+ temps placed nationwide.

Under his leadership, Damian received three consecutive Arthur Andersen’s Best Practices Awards in the categories of Exceeding Customer Expectations, Strategic Leadership and Unleashing The Power Of Technology.

Other Interests: Jim is a co-founder and director of The Post-Conflict Foundation. He is also actively involved in grass-roots endeavors to improve the historically fragile relationship between Greece and Turkey, and has also participated in the Principal for A Day and WITS (Working in the Schools) programs in the Chicago Public Schools.

SCORE Activities: Chair, Alliances and Partnerships, Keeping SCORE newsletter editor. Joined SCORE 3/24/03.
